And We're Back.

I must admit my time has been consumed lately. Been doing some writing (Randy X. Porter on Amazon) and have been working a good bit. Also have been acquiring many books I've been missing from places like Ebay and Abebooks. Private eye series fiction about Mike Shayne and Shell Scott, mostly.

I hadn't bought a typewriter in months. Last week I bought...a few. Five. No, six. I now own 52 machines, though I await the arrival of a few of them in the mail.

I can't begin to understand how my mind works. Maybe it's broken.

Here are a few current shots of the Deep East Texas Broken Typewriter Museum. When the last few arrive, I will be completely out of space. Actually, I'm already out of space.

It's hard to find the time to maintain them, make sure they still work, keep the dust off them. I like to think as time goes on I will be able to do it all, but I won't. Writing, full-time job, something has to give.

I hope to keep this blog updated but I've failed to recently. When my new children begin arriving in the mail I hope to offer updates.

  1. I know the feeling but even when you run out of space and stop buying them, people still bring them to my door. I've only ever bought two standards, an Olivetti Lexikon and a Graphika. The other four just crept in and took up residence.

    1. At one point I said I'd never own an electric, but circumstance has brought four to me. Since they seem fairly unpopular around here, I was able to get them for $10, $13, $15, and completely free. They all work (one is practically brand new and still in the box) and the prices were too good to resist.

  2. If your mind is broken, then it's broken in the best possible way.

I hope, for my own sake...

    1. I collected comic books for 30 years and accumulated 8,000. I sold them last year. 8,000 comics are a problem to store, but 50-ish typewriters....not a problem, really. Yet.

  3. Check bed- and living rooms for space!

    1. So far, with some imagination, they fit in the walk-in closet. There are two more on the way, and there is room for them. That will bring my total to 52 and max out the available shelving. I'll figure it out after that.
