Typewriters on TV: Kolchak the Night Stalker
Hard to tell exactly what machine Kolchak is using. I suspect a Smith-Corona Secretarial, but I have been and am regularly proven wrong about almost everything. It does happen.
I think it's a big (standard) machine, and the vertical buttons for setting and clearing tab stops indicate a Royal. Great dramatic music and I love the narration at the end, too! An excellent example of the romance of typewriting.
Aw yeah - The Night Stalker. I loved that show, except for all the yelling between him and his editor. Darren McGavin ruled. (:

ReplyDeleteAh, nice. You see KMGs in tons of movies from the '50s on. I had a KMH (as pictured in my avatar; actually based my pen name on that typewriter).

ReplyDeleteYep, a Royal would make sense. I wish I had a better look. I'm always checking out old movies and TV shows to see what they're typing with.
